NEW MOON: Backpacking 101
APR 2-3 (FULL)
APR 30 - May 1 (2 SPOTS)
We begin our small adventure with a short meeting at the trailhead, although we'll have already met via Zoom during a pre-trip orientation. This is where we distribute gear for the weekend and teach you how to ergonomically pack your backpack. Your guides will discuss essential items for backcountry adventuring and make sure you feel comfortable with the weight.
With bags loaded, we begin our hike along a moderately graded trail that follows the river. Along the way, we will learn how to filter water and discuss backcountry hygiene and health safety.
We will take as many breaks as needed for the group. Once we are about 3-4 miles away from civilization, you will learn how to set up a tent and make a backcountry meal (food and equipment provided). After making our homes for the evening, we'll have an optional small new moon ritual and intention setting. We'll have access to a darker night sky, so the cosmos should be especially brilliant.
In the morning, we'll wake up to the pure bliss of clean forest air. We'll have a guided stretch, grounding and short self-energy healing session. We'll gather together for a warm herbalist breakfast, break down our tents and clear the campsite.
We highly recommend attending this event if you have never backpacked before and plan to join our summer Sierra adventures!
Note: Guides may have trail dogs attending. Please let us know if you have a fear or allergy.
